Summer and Clay made taking their engagement photos SO EASY.
From the second I met these two, I knew we were going to be fast friends. Summer and Clay were the most easy going couple to shoot photos of. They even ran all over Fort Worth in the 103 degree Texas summer weather for their engagement photos. SUCH TROUPERS! We hit up all the typical Fort Worth photo spots during their 2.5 hour engagement session. We went from the Botanical Gardens to the Trinity River. We even stopped by TCU’s campus where these two’s love story first began.
HOW THEY MET
Summer and Clay first met in a spanish class where their professor put them together for a group project. They didn’t exactly hit it off until Summer found herself at Clay’s house for a party with some friends and he sat next to her and just started talking. They started studying together, and after acing their final Clay “finally” asked Summer on a date! We talked about their love story throughout their entire engagement session, and it was oh so clear that they knew all along that they were going to end up together.
After Summer had graduated, Clay went to visit her in New Orleans, where she is from. They were all planning to go to dinner with their family, but at the last minute Summers family bailed. So obviously she got suspicious! ** This is the time that you should grab the tissues.** Clay took Summer to the restaurant where her dad proposed to her mom. Before the food even arrived, he was down on one knee. A few months later, I was able to take these engagement photos in Fort Worth which is where they met and fell in love.
Being their engagement photographer was so sweet. I loved being able to gush over all the wedding planning and proposal stories. They were so easy to work with and I hardly had to give them any direction! That’s usually how it is when two people are as in love as Summer and Clay are. It is so clear that Summer and Clay are meant to be together, I mean just LOOK AT EM!! You would have to be blind to not see how madly in love these two are in these couples photos. They are magical and moody and special and perfect. I wish I could shoot pictures of them 10 times over because we just had so much fun.
The thing that I love about these engagement photos that I took in Fort Worth is the fact that they are so effortless. I so often see beautiful posed photos of a couple smiling and looking directly at the camera, which is great! But in my opinion, super staged images don’t tell you anything about a couple other than what they look like. My goal with this shoot was to take photos in places that meant something to Summer and Clay.
One of the first questions I asked this couple, and that I ask every couple prior to an engagement shoot is what they liked to do together! Summer told me that they liked to go on walks along the trinity river, so guess what?! We drove down to the trinity river and went on a walk. They pretended like they were on a date, and I captured images of their love as it is in real time. We were able to take photos where they first met and to all the places where they like to hang out and it was magical!
Another thing I loved about Summer and Clay was that they didn’t have any problem being themselves around me! We joked around from beginning to end during this session and I loved it! I got so many photos of this couple laughing and picking on each other in the sweetest ways. My camera was so happy to be capturing such genuine emotion between these two!
I absolutely loved getting to play a role in Summer and Clay’s engagement as their photographer. I had so much fun running around different locations in Fort Worth and third-wheeling these two while I took their engagement photos. Huge congrats to the sweetest couple I ever did meet!
