Rachel and Colten were planning on getting married in Colorado a few weeks ago and because of the current situation, that didn’t happen (screw you coronavirus). BUT, what did happen was the most romantic and dreamy night time wedding filled with endless surprises.
Regardless of the circumstances, these two weren’t going to let a pandemic keep their wedding from happening. Instead of postponing to a later date, these two decided to have a small, romantic, night time wedding with their closest family. And it. was. PERFECT!
Rachel reached out to me only three weeks before their romantic night time wedding day. I immediately asked her so many questions about the logistics of the day, but to my surprise, Rachel knew very little about what her wedding day would look like. She shared with me that after dealing with the stress of cancelling her original plans, Colten stepped up to plan her dream twinkle light filled wedding. She told me he was handling all of the logistics of the day from the decor to the timeline. So obviously, at that point I had to give Colten a call.
You guys. I have NEVER seen a groom do more for his wedding day.

NIGHT TIME WEDDING SURPRISES
Colten and his family spent WEEKS preparing for this romantic nighttime wedding. From clearing out all the land to organizing the perfect timeline, they thought of it all. For starters, they hung HUNDREDS of string lights from every tree on their land because Rachel dreamed of a twinkle light ceremony. They also rented the tent and all the decor that was in the small reception space (which is hella impressive that he was able to pull all of that off at the last minute).
As if all that wasn’t enough, Colten put so much effort into the smaller details of the day and planned so many surprises for Rachel. The first big surprise that he had was cutting his hair (which was apparently way longer than mine). Rachel told me that for the entirety of their relationship Colten had his long hair and she always wanted him to cut it. So he did.
Colten even rented an RV for them to stay in after their romantic wedding since they weren’t able to go on their honeymoon right away. Like literally, he thought of everything and it was so sweet! John kept asking me if I was mad that he didn’t love me that much hahah. And to answer your question, the answer is yes lol.

All in all, this dreamy night time wedding day was absolutely perfect and I’m so glad I was able to be a part of it! These two are a match made in heaven and I can’t wait to see where their future takes them!

ELOPEMENTS ARE ROMANTIC TOO
This is our new wedding normal, and honestly, I’m loving it. Rachel and Colten’s romantic elopement style wedding day held SO MANY special moments – even though this wasn’t the original plan.
From the moment these two first saw each other when Rachel was walking down the aisle, they didn’t leave each others sides – which I can’t say about most couples on their wedding day. The intimate setting allowed them to take in each moment and focus on what was most important to them – each other.
I have always been a fan of intimate wedding days that allow the couple to be fully in the moment and not get swept up in the “event” of it all. On a typical wedding day there are so many distractions that can pull a bride and grooms attention away from what the day is really about. If I learned anything from Rachel + Colten it’s that those things don’t matter. You don’t need fancy decorations, a huge guest list, or a crazy dance party to celebrate your marriage! Some string lights, lawn chairs, your closest family members and a few pizza’s will definitely get the job done.
I’m so thankful for couples like this that don’t let anything get in the way of their day!
